The Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics at Jaypee University of Information Technology had the privilege of welcoming Dr. Priyanka Priyadarsiny Head, R&D – Biologicals, Panacea Biotec Ltd., New Delhi on 8th May 2026. She was warmly received by Prof. Anil Kant Thakur, Program Coordinator, DBT, PG Teaching and Prof. Jata Shankar, Head of the Department along with Vice chancellor Prof. Rajendra Kumar Sharma, Prof. Sudhir Syal, Dean (R&I), Prof. Tiratha Raj Singh Associate Dean (Innovation), Departmental faculty members students and Technical Staff.
During the visit, Dr. Priyanka also facilitated the prize distribution ceremony for the winners of the JUIT GAT-B Mock Test – 2026. The mock test witnessed the participation of 384 students from 12 different colleges. Faculty members from the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics visited various colleges across the Himachal Pradesh to conduct the mock test, which greatly benefited students by helping them prepare for the GAT-B examination conducted by the Government of India. The prize distribution ceremony was held at Jaypee University of Information Technology on 8 May 2026 under the chairmanship of Honorable Vice chancellor.
The visit aimed to strengthen academia–industry interaction, promote research collaboration, and provide students with valuable exposure to current industrial practices and placement opportunities in the biotechnology sector. During her interaction with UG, PG, and PhD students, Dr. Priyanka shared valuable insights into the evolving placement scenario and industry expectations in today’s competitive environment. She delivered an informative lecture highlighting the technical skills, professional competencies, and research aptitude required for successful careers in biotechnology and allied fields.
As part of the academic engagement, Dr. Priyanka also conducted the viva voce examination of postgraduate students and appreciated the quality of research being carried out in the department. She visited various research laboratories and interacted with faculty members and research scholars regarding ongoing academic and research projects.
An interactive session was organized with students and faculty members to discuss possibilities for future academic and industrial collaborations. The session proved highly inspiring and beneficial for students, offering them practical guidance, motivation, and a better understanding of career opportunities in the biotechnology sector.
The visit concluded on a positive and encouraging note, reinforcing the importance of strong academia–industry partnerships in advancing research, innovation, and student development.
