LR B.Ed College celebrated International Yoga Day on its campus on Friday, organising a special session at the badminton court under the theme, “Yoga for Healthy Ageing.”
The programme began with an introduction to the significance of yoga and its role in promoting overall well-being. Principal Dr Nisha Sharma encouraged students to incorporate yoga into their daily lives, describing it as a holistic practice that fosters physical, mental and emotional balance.
“Yoga is not merely a set of postures but a way of life. The theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing’ highlights the benefits of yoga for people of all age groups,” she said.
B.Ed second-year students Diksha and Ritika led the yoga session, guiding participants through various asanas, including Tadasana, Vrikshasana, Bhujangasana and Vajrasana. They also demonstrated pranayama techniques such as Anulom-Vilom and Kapalbhati, explaining their methods and health benefits.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from teacher trainees and faculty members of the B.Ed department. The campus resonated with a sense of discipline, positivity and collective engagement throughout the programme.
The celebration concluded with the National Anthem. Dr Sharma said the objective of such initiatives is to create awareness about yoga and promote a message of health, harmony and positivity in society.
Managing Director Shachi Singh appreciated the efforts of the department and emphasised the importance of making yoga an integral part of daily life.
Participants pledged to adopt yoga as a regular practice, making the event a meaningful and successful observance of International Yoga Day.
