On the occasion of World Environment Day, the LR B.Ed Department organized a series of awareness programmes involving trainee teachers and NSS volunteers to promote environmental conservation and sustainable living.
The programme commenced with a special prayer assembly during which trainees and faculty members took a pledge to protect and preserve the environment. Principal Dr. Nisha, along with teaching and non-teaching staff of the B.Ed Department, was present on the occasion.
The celebrations began with the NSS volunteers launching the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign. The initiative aims to encourage trainees, teachers and members of society to plant a tree in honour of their mothers while spreading the message of environmental protection.

As part of the programme, trainees presented a street play highlighting the importance of environmental conservation and cleanliness. A poster-making competition, speech competition and “Best Out of Waste” activity were also organized to encourage creativity and environmental awareness.
In the poster-making competition, Palak’s team secured first place, followed by Mahak Chauhan’s team in second place and Tanjeen’s team in third place. In the “Best Out of Waste” competition, Chomo’s team emerged victorious. Kritika Kashyap won the speech competition, while Ananya and Reena jointly secured second position.
Participants displayed remarkable creativity by transforming waste and discarded materials into useful items, demonstrating the importance of recycling and sustainable practices.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Nisha said that the environment is not only the foundation of human life but also a priceless legacy for future generations. She urged people to plant trees and reduce plastic consumption, emphasizing that a clean environment is the cornerstone of a healthy society and a strong nation.
The programme concluded with a collective commitment to environmental protection, cleanliness and sustainable living.
