Shimla, July 14: Deputy Commissioner Anupam Kashyap on Tuesday described the Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat) campaign as a transformative initiative aimed at empowering young people and encouraging their active participation in nation-building.
Chairing a meeting of the MY Bharat District Coordination Committee, Kashyap formally launched the district-level registration drive and urged eligible youth to enrol on the MY Bharat portal before August 15, 2026, to participate in the programme.
He said the campaign offers young people opportunities to take part in a range of competitions, including dance, reel and short film-making, original music, street theatre and slam poetry. Participants can also engage in flagship initiatives such as the Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament and Young Bharat Young Leader Dialogue 2026.
Kashyap said the district administration aims to connect a maximum number of young people with the initiative so they can access platforms at the district, state, national and international levels. He added that the campaign goes beyond participation in events by fostering leadership, teamwork, social responsibility and problem-solving skills through community engagement.
The Deputy Commissioner said the programme targets youth in the 15–29 age group, connecting them with voluntary activities in areas such as education, skill development, employment, entrepreneurship, environmental protection, water conservation, anti-drug campaigns, health awareness, Fit India, digital literacy, sanitation, disaster management, blood donation, women’s empowerment, voter awareness and social harmony.
He also presented experience certificates to MY Bharat volunteers Oshin Sharma, Divyanshi, Kanishk and Tarun Sharma in recognition of their contribution to the campaign.
Focus on Volunteerism and Leadership
Under the MY Bharat initiative, programmes such as plantation drives, Swachhata campaigns, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, Viksit Bharat Youth Dialogue, Fit India Movement, Constitution awareness programmes, National Youth Day celebrations, road safety campaigns, water conservation initiatives, disaster relief activities, blood donation camps and the Nasha Mukt Bharat campaign are organised regularly to promote leadership, innovation, discipline and a spirit of national service among young people.
Registration Through MY Bharat Portal
Interested youth can register on the official MY Bharat portal by providing their mobile number, email ID and identity details. After OTP verification, users can create a profile and apply online for volunteer programmes, internships, training opportunities, community service projects and government campaigns based on their interests, qualifications and location. Selected participants may receive training, experience certificates and recognition for outstanding contributions.
District Coordination Committee Formed
To ensure effective implementation of the initiative, a MY Bharat District Coordination Committee has been constituted under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The committee will function as the executive and coordinating body of the District Youth Programme Advisory Committee and will facilitate coordination among government departments, educational institutions and youth organisations.
The committee will meet every month in online or offline mode. It comprises representatives from MY Bharat, NSS, NCC, Bharat Scouts and Guides, along with officials from the departments of education, health, employment, language, women and child development, social welfare and the district administration. Additional stakeholders may also be included as required.
