Shimla/Delhi, August 23, 2026
The Sant Nirankari Mission on Sunday launched the sixth phase of its nationwide environmental initiative, ‘Oneness Van Harmony with Nature’, with a plantation drive held simultaneously at 630 locations across India, including Shimla. The Mission said around 10 lakh saplings were planted as part of the campaign.
In Shimla, nearly 100 hydrangea and other flowering plants were planted in an adopted forest area near Kamla Nehru Hospital. A cleanliness drive was also organised, with members of the Sant Nirankari branches in Shimla and Durgapur, along with Sewadal volunteers, actively participating.
The plantation and service activities were inaugurated by Shimla Zone Zonal In-charge Captain NPS Bhullar and Shimla Branch Convener Hemraj Bhardwaj.
The environmental initiative was launched in August 2021 with the blessings of Satguru Mata Sudiksha Ji Maharaj and Nirankari Rajpita Ramit Ji. The campaign aims not only to plant trees but also to revive people’s emotional connection with nature and promote environmental conservation as a shared social responsibility.
Sant Nirankari Mandal Secretary Joginder Sukhija said nearly 350 tree clusters have been established across different states, while devotees and volunteers are maintaining more than 600 ‘Oneness Van’ sites.
A key feature of the campaign is its focus on long-term care. The planted saplings will be nurtured and monitored for three to five years so that they can grow into dense green patches, strengthen local ecosystems and promote biodiversity.
Inspired by the message of Baba Hardev Singh Ji that “pollution, whether within or outside, is harmful”, the Mission said the initiative seeks to encourage people to adopt a more responsible and sustainable relationship with nature.
With the world facing challenges such as climate change, rising pollution and the degradation of natural resources, the campaign seeks to promote collective action for a greener and healthier future.
