Hamirpur, August 11: Eligible beneficiaries of Himachal Pradesh’s Chief Minister Sahara Yojana can now apply for financial assistance online, with the scheme having been transferred from the Health Department to the Social Justice and Empowerment Department.
District Welfare Officer Chaman Lal Sharma said the first-quarter pension for the current financial year has been released to eligible and Aadhaar-verified beneficiaries of the scheme in Hamirpur district.
The Sahara Yojana provides financial assistance to economically weaker sections suffering from serious and chronic illnesses that require prolonged treatment. The scheme covers patients suffering from conditions including paralysis, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease, malignant cancer, haemophilia, thalassemia and kidney-related ailments, among other serious diseases.
According to Sharma, the entire application and payment process has now been digitised through a new online platform, allowing beneficiaries to access welfare schemes through a single-window system.
All applications for the Sahara Yojana will now be accepted only online through the Him Parivar e-Kalyan portal, the department said. Applicants whose earlier applications were kept pending by the Himachal Pradesh National Health Insurance Society will also have to submit fresh applications to claim the assistance.
Eligible applicants can apply themselves online or seek assistance at their nearest Lok Mitra Kendra. Anganwadi workers will also assist beneficiaries with identification, verification and other procedural formalities.
