The Cultural Committee of Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Shimla, hosted a vibrant Pre-Diwali celebration on the eve of 23rd October 2024. The event, graced by Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, Vice Chancellor of HPNLU, was a joyous occasion for the university community. Prof. (Dr.) SS Jaswal, Registrar, and Dr. Ruchi Sapahia, Faculty Chairperson of the Cultural Committee, were present alongside the entire faculty and students of HPNLU, adding to the festive ambiance.
The celebration began in the afternoon with a spirited Rangoli competition, in which students enthusiastically displayed their creativity through intricate and colorful designs that captured the essence of Diwali. Later in the evening, the main event commenced with a ceremonial welcome of the Vice Chancellor and a diya-lighting ceremony, adding an auspicious glow to the beautifully crafted rangoli.
Prof. (Dr.) Priti Saxena, in her welcome address, emphasized the importance of cultural celebrations in enriching campus life and fostering unity among students and faculty. The evening was marked by a series of captivating performances that showcased the rich cultural heritage of India. Students enthralled the audience with traditional dance performances, including the graceful Ghoomar, the energetic Bhangra, and the rhythmic Pahadi dance, celebrating the diverse traditions of India. The orchestra performance added a melodious touch to the festivities, captivating everyone present.
A highlight of the evening was a beautifully staged play that depicted the story of Diwali, bringing to life the spirit of the festival through drama, dance, and music. The play resonated with the audience, reflecting both cultural significance and artistic expression.
The celebration not only fostered a sense of community but also provided a platform for students to showcase their talents and cultural pride. This celebration at HPNLU was a memorable occasion, embodying the spirit of unity, joy, and festivity that Diwali represents, and it set a festive tone for the campus. The event was rounded off with a vote of thanks by Dr. Ruchi Sapahia, Faculty Chairperson of the Cultural Committee, encapsulating the success and collective effort of everyone involved.
