Solan, June 2: Himachal Pradesh Public Works and Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Tuesday said that quality education is the foundation of inclusive and sustainable development and plays a crucial role in shaping responsible citizens and future leaders.
Addressing the annual prize distribution ceremony at The Lawrence School, Sanawar, Singh lauded the institution’s rich legacy of academic excellence and its contribution to nurturing talent across diverse fields. He congratulated the students who were honoured during the event and expressed confidence that they would continue to achieve new milestones in their respective careers.
The minister noted that Himachal Pradesh today ranks among the most literate states in the country, attributing the achievement to the visionary leadership of the state’s first Chief Minister, Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar, and the sustained efforts of successive governments.
Highlighting his developmental agenda, Singh said he was committed to realising the vision of a progressive and prosperous Himachal Pradesh envisioned by former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.
He urged students to combine professional success with a spirit of social service, stressing that education should not only help individuals achieve personal goals but also inspire them to contribute positively to society.
Describing the annual prize distribution ceremony as an important platform for recognising talent, the minister said such events motivate students to strive for excellence and showcase their abilities.
On the occasion, Vikramaditya Singh honoured students who had excelled in academics, sports, and co-curricular activities. Earlier, Headmaster Ruchi Pradhan Dutta welcomed the chief guest and other attendees.
