Shimla: In an inspiring achievement from one of Himachal Pradesh’s most remote regions, Sheetal Sharma from Samvi village in Kupvi, Shimla district, has cleared the NEET 2026 examination with 561 marks, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 28,789.
Despite limited educational infrastructure and resources in the backward Kupvi region, Sheetal’s success highlights how determination and hard work can overcome geographical challenges.
Sheetal is the daughter of Ramesh Sharma and Savita Sharma, both government teachers. Her father serves as a JBT teacher, while her mother is a Hindi lecturer.
Speaking after the results, Sheetal dedicated her achievement to her grandfather, Sukhram, whom she described as her greatest source of inspiration. She said her grandfather completed his B.Sc. in 1967 and devoted his life to the field of education before retiring as a principal in 2002.
“My grandfather inspired me to dream big and stay committed to my goals. This achievement belongs to him as much as it does to me,” she said.
Encouraging young aspirants, Sheetal urged students to stay away from social evils and remain focused on their ambitions.
“If you work with dedication, discipline and perseverance, no goal is impossible. This is not the final destination for me. I will continue to work hard and strive for even greater achievements in life,” she added.
Her success has brought pride to the Kupvi region and serves as an inspiration for students from remote areas across Himachal Pradesh, proving that talent and determination can flourish despite limited opportunities.
