Rural athletes will be provided opportunities at district, state and national levels: Sunil Rohata
Kotkhai (Shimla): The General Body Meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Finswimming Underwater Sports Association was held at the premises of Roots Country School, Baghi, in Kotkhai Assembly constituency. The meeting was attended by election observer Rakesh Kumar Walia, former Deputy Director of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Mountaineering and Allied Sports, Manali, and Returning Officer Advocate Jyoti Dogra from the High Court of Himachal Pradesh.
During the elections, Sunil Rohata, Managing Director of Roots Country School, Baghi, Shimla district, was unanimously elected as the President of the Himachal Pradesh Finswimming Underwater Sports Association.
The newly elected executive body includes Rashid Mohammad, MD of Shine Swimming Pool Amb, Una, as Senior Vice President. Neelam Thakur (Bilaspur), Dimple Sharma (Kullu), and Akhil Ahluwalia (Kangra) were elected as Vice Presidents. National water sports athlete Shoaib Khan from Bilaspur was elected as State General Secretary.
Garima Chauhan (Mandi), Dr. Sushil Sharma (Hamirpur), and Upasna Verma (Mandi) were elected as Joint Secretaries. Jagmohan Sharma from rural Shimla was elected Treasurer, while Pankaj Sharma from Sirmaur was chosen as Executive Member.
Addressing the gathering, newly elected President Sunil Rohata said that special efforts would be made to promote finswimming and underwater sports across Himachal Pradesh, particularly in rural areas. He emphasized that talented athletes would be provided opportunities to compete and excel at district, state, and national levels, helping them gain recognition and advance in the sport.
