Shimla/Mandi: Four minors, including two boys and two girls, were rescued from an alleged live-in arrangement in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district and later reunited with their families after counselling by the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), officials said.
The rescue operation was carried out in the Padhar area after authorities received information about the teenagers staying together. During the operation, the minors reportedly attempted to mislead officials, but their identities and ages were verified. The boys were shifted to an Open Shelter Home, while the girls were accommodated at a One Stop Centre before being produced before the CWC.
During the hearing, the girls reportedly expressed their wish to continue living with the boys. However, the CWC intervened, counselled all four minors and their parents, and ensured that the children were handed back to their families after completing the legal process.
Officials also found that all four teenagers had dropped out of school. The committee directed parents to ensure their children resume their education and advised them to closely monitor their activities to safeguard their future.
