Shimla: SJVN Limited on Thursday hosted the half-yearly meeting of the Town Official Language Implementation Committee (Narakas), Shimla (Office-2), with Director (Personnel) Ajay Kumar Sharma presiding over the session.
The meeting reviewed the implementation of the Official Language Policy across central government offices in Shimla and discussed measures to achieve the targets set by the Government of India for promoting the use of Hindi in official work.
Addressing representatives of member offices, Sharma appreciated their efforts in implementing the Official Language Policy and urged them to maximise the use of Hindi in day-to-day official work. He also handed over the chairmanship of Narakas, Shimla (Office-2), to the Reserve Bank of India and extended his best wishes to the incoming chair.
Reserve Bank of India Regional Director Anoop Teenager lauded SJVN’s leadership of the committee since 2015, saying it had effectively fulfilled its responsibilities by organising regular meetings and official language programmes. He noted that the Parliamentary Committee on Official Language had also appreciated the functioning of Narakas under SJVN’s chairmanship.
The meeting was attended by SJVN Head of Human Resources Baljeet Singh, Member Secretary of Narakas-2 Ashish Pant, and around 54 senior officers representing central government offices, public sector undertakings and banks based in Shimla.
