Shimla: The Medical Training Centre of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Shimla organised a “Yoga Mahotsav” programme at Swarn Public School to spread awareness about the importance of yoga and healthy living among students.
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Commandant (Medical) Dr. A.F. Khan and Dr. Rajeev Ranjan. During the session, Sub-Inspector (Physiotherapist) Pushpendra Kumar and Head Constable Ram Pal educated students and teachers about the physical and mental benefits of yoga and its role in maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Addressing the students, Pushpendra Kumar said that regular yoga practice helps keep the body healthy, the mind calm and life disciplined. He highlighted that rising mental stress, unhealthy routines and excessive mobile phone usage are leading to several physical and mental health issues among children, making yoga more important than ever. He encouraged students to adopt yoga in their daily lives and remain conscious about their health and lifestyle.
Head Constable Ram Pal gave practical demonstrations of various yoga asanas and pranayama techniques, including Surya Namaskar, Anulom-Vilom, Kapalbhati and meditation practices. He also explained the correct methods and benefits of regular yoga exercises. Students enthusiastically participated in the yoga session.
During the programme, participants were also informed about this year’s International Yoga Day theme — “Yoga for One Earth, One Health.” The event concluded with a message encouraging everyone to adopt a healthy and positive lifestyle.
The school management expressed gratitude to the SSB officers and trainers, stating that such awareness programmes are highly beneficial for the overall development of students.
