Shimla: With the ongoing monsoon season, cases of cold, cough, fever and other viral infections may increase. Patients showing symptoms of viral fever are also reaching (IGMC) Shimla.
The hospital administration has appealed to the public to remain alert and take timely medical advice instead of panicking. Special care should be taken of children, elderly people and those already suffering from health conditions.
Precautions to Follow
– Cover your mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing, and use a mask when necessary.
– Wash your hands regularly with soap and water.
– If you have fever, cough or cold symptoms, avoid crowded places and maintain appropriate distance from others.
– If someone at home has a viral infection, reduce their direct contact with children and elderly family members.
– Drink sufficient water and other fluids, eat nutritious food and take adequate rest.
– Change wet clothes immediately after getting drenched in the rain and maintain good personal hygiene.
– Do not take antibiotics or other medicines without a doctor’s advice.
– Seek immediate medical attention in case of high or persistent fever, difficulty in breathing, extreme weakness, continuous vomiting or worsening of symptoms.
The hospital administration said that most cases of viral fever improve with proper care and timely medical advice. People have been urged to avoid rumours and unnecessary fear, follow hygiene practices and consult a doctor promptly if symptoms appear.
