Shimla, September 20
A lift at the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) in Tutikandi, Shimla, malfunctioned on Sunday, leaving several people trapped inside and triggering panic among passengers.
According to preliminary information, the lift stopped functioning due to a technical fault. In an attempt to open the lift and rescue those trapped inside, the plastic panel fitted on the lift door was broken, following which the passengers were brought out safely.
No major mishap was reported in the incident, and all those trapped inside were safely evacuated.
The incident, however, raised concerns among passengers over the maintenance and safety of lift facilities at the busy bus terminus. The technical fault is reportedly being examined to ascertain the cause of the malfunction.
