Paonta Sahib: A vegetable vendor from Sirmaur’s Shillai area died under suspicious circumstances at Vishwakarma Chowk in Paonta Sahib early Tuesday, triggering concern in the area. Police have begun an investigation after cut marks were found on the deceased’s neck.
The deceased has been identified as Bhav Singh, a resident of Shillai in Sirmaur district.
According to preliminary information, Bhav Singh was brought to the Paonta Sahib Civil Hospital between around 2.30 am and 3 am in a critical condition. Doctors examined him and declared him dead. Police were informed by the hospital and subsequently took the body into custody for further legal proceedings.
Cut injury found on neck
During the preliminary investigation, police found a cut injury on Bhav Singh’s neck, while his clothes were reportedly stained with blood. The exact circumstances in which he sustained the injury and the cause of death remain unclear.
Bhav Singh was reportedly engaged in the vegetable business in the Shillai area and had come to Paonta Sahib in connection with some work. Police have informed his family about the incident.
CCTV footage being examined
Following the incident, police inspected Vishwakarma Chowk and surrounding areas and began examining CCTV footage from nearby cameras. Investigators are trying to establish where Bhav Singh had been before reaching the spot and whether he had met anyone shortly before the incident.
DSP Paonta Sahib Manvendra Thakur also inspected the spot. Police said the investigation is underway and that the post-mortem report and CCTV footage could provide crucial clues about the circumstances surrounding the death.
No arrest has been confirmed so far. Police are investigating how Bhav Singh sustained the neck injury and how he reached Vishwakarma Chowk in a critical condition.
