Shimla, August 18: Youth from Mashobra block have urged the Himachal Pradesh government to extend the application deadline for 40 posts in the Jal Shakti Department’s Kasumpti Division from August 20 to at least September 1, saying several eligible candidates may otherwise miss the recruitment opportunity.
The applicants said many youths have not yet received their Class 8 certificates due to preparations and engagements related to Independence Day celebrations in schools. They fear this could prevent a large number of eligible candidates from submitting their applications before the existing deadline.
The Kasumpti division is recruiting for 40 posts across different categories, including 12 Para-Pump Operators, three Para-Fitters and 25 Multi-Task Workers (MTWs). The current deadline for submitting applications is August 20.
The youths have also raised questions over the recruitment of Multi-Task Workers conducted in 2024. They alleged that despite Class 8 being the prescribed qualification, some posts were filled by candidates possessing other technical qualifications. They have sought an impartial inquiry and demanded that recruitment be carried out strictly according to the prescribed eligibility criteria and rules.
The applicants further said experience certificates are required for MTW posts, while many local youths do not possess such certificates. They alleged that some candidates were obtaining old experience certificates through contractors and getting them countersigned by the department.
The youths have urged the government to ensure transparency in the recruitment process and prevent any political interference, maintaining that selections should be made solely on merit and in accordance with the notified rules.
However, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti Division Kasumpti, Vinod Sharma, said there is currently no proposal to extend the application deadline.
