Shimla, May 11. On Monday, the last day of filing nominations for the Panchayat elections, 14 nominations were filed for various posts in Peeran, a remote Panchayat of the Mashobra block. ARO (Panchayat Elections) Ved Prakash Sharma and Panchayat Secretary Rajiv Thakur stated that two candidates filed their nominations for the post of Pradhan, six for the post of Deputy Pradhan, and six for the post of Ward Member. They added that Archana Thakur from Ward Tri-1, Anuradha from Tri-2, Narayan Singh from Devthi, and Suraksha Devi from Batola filed their nominations for the ward members, meaning all the members of these wards were elected unopposed, while two members, Shubham and Premdas, filed their nominations from Peeran Ward. Similarly, two women, Poonam and Surekha Devi, filed their nominations for the post of Pradhan. Nisha Devi filed her nomination on May 8, bringing the total number of women candidates for the post of Pradhan to three. The highest number of candidates, six, filed their nominations for the post of Deputy Pradhan. These include Budhram, Sandeep, Atar Singh, Shubham Verma, Ramanand, and Kamalkant. After the withdrawal of nominations by May 15th, the picture of the contesting candidates will become clear.
