A two youth were killed after a car plunged nearly 250 metres into a deep gorge in Himachal Pradesh’s Chamba district on Wednesday, police said.
The accident occurred in the Bharmaur subdivision, where the vehicle reportedly veered off the road before tumbling into the gorge. The impact was so severe that the car was completely mangled, and both occupants died on the spot.
Soon after the incident, police, district administration officials and local residents launched a rescue operation. The bodies were recovered from the accident site and sent for post-mortem examination.
Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary findings suggest the driver may have lost control of the vehicle, though the circumstances leading to the crash are being examined.
