Green Campus initiative encourages every student to plant and nurture a tree, promoting environmental responsibility and sustainability
Mandi, June 5:
On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, Abhilashi University organized the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” plantation drive, reaffirming its commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable development.
The plantation campaign was led by Pro-Chancellor Dr. L.K. Abhilashi, who lauded the University’s innovative Green Campus Course aimed at fostering environmental awareness among students. Under this initiative, every student is encouraged to plant a sapling and care for it throughout the duration of their academic programme. He emphasized that the initiative not only contributes to environmental protection but also nurtures a sense of responsibility and stewardship towards nature.
Chancellor Dr. R.K. Abhilashi extended his best wishes on the occasion and urged all stakeholders to actively participate in preserving the environment. He highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean and green ecosystem for the benefit of present and future generations.
In his message, Vice-Chancellor Prof. H.K. Chaudhary described World Environment Day as a reminder of humanity’s shared responsibility to protect natural resources. Appreciating the enthusiastic participation of students and faculty members, he stated that sustainability and environmental conservation remain integral to the vision of Abhilashi University.
The plantation drive witnessed active participation from Dr. Promila Abhilashi, Vice President of AES, along with the Registrar, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, faculty members, NSS volunteers and students from various faculties.
The programme concluded with a strong message that every tree planted today is an investment in a healthier, greener and more sustainable future. Through initiatives like “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” Abhilashi University continues to inspire students and the wider community to become active contributors to environmental protection.
At the conclusion of the event, Dean Student Welfare Dr. Devender Sharma and NSS Coordinator Mr. Hemant Kapoor expressed gratitude to the University administration and leadership for their continued support, guidance and encouragement in promoting environmental sustainability.
