Shimla: Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur expressed gratitude to the people of Himachal Pradesh for the BJP’s massive victory in the local body elections, stating that the results reflect a clear rejection of the Congress government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu over its failures, corruption, anarchy and alleged mafia rule.
Celebrating the victory with party workers and office-bearers at the BJP headquarters “Deep Kamal” in Shimla, Jai Ram Thakur said that the people of the state have become completely disillusioned with the Congress government’s “false promises, anti-people decisions and poor governance.” He alleged that law and order in the state has deteriorated continuously, mafia elements have received protection and corruption has weakened the administrative system.
The Leader of Opposition said the local body election results clearly indicate that the people have made up their minds to remove the Congress government from power. Targeting the Chief Minister, he said, “The Chief Minister speaks lies and even his own ministers do not trust him. He was aware of the likely election results and therefore kept avoiding the elections. Now, after the results, he is reacting like Mamata Banerjee.”
Jai Ram Thakur further said that the victory is not merely an electoral success for the BJP, but a symbol of the people’s trust in the party and their growing anger against the Congress government. According to him, the electorate has completely rejected the “politics of lies, confusion and publicity.”
He also alleged that the Congress government kept delaying the local body elections and conducted them only after directions from the court. The election results, he said, have made it evident that the people of Himachal Pradesh are thoroughly disappointed with the present government.
The former Chief Minister congratulated all party workers, office-bearers and supporters for the historic win and thanked the people of the state for their support. He expressed confidence that in the coming elections too, the people would continue to strengthen the BJP and give a fitting reply to the Congress government.
Among those present on the occasion were BJP state president Rajeev Bindal, state organisation secretary Siddarthan, state treasurer Kamal Sood, Kisan Morcha state president Sanjeev Deshta, state media coordinator Karn Nand and Shimla district president Keshav Chauhan, along with several party workers and office-bearers.
