Shimla: District Election Officer Anupam Kashyap on Thursday reviewed preparations for the upcoming Panchayat elections in Theog block, directing officials to ensure transparent and smooth conduct of the electoral process.
During the review meeting, discussions were held on transport arrangements for polling teams, boarding and lodging facilities for polling staff, and timely settlement of payments and bills related to election duty. Officials were also instructed to maintain law and order to ensure peaceful and fair elections.
The meeting further reviewed monitoring of expenditure incurred by Zila Parishad candidates through the Candidate Expenditure Reporting System (CERS). Directions were issued to install CCTV cameras, enable webcasting and conduct videography at sensitive and highly sensitive counting centres.
Officials were also asked to ensure basic facilities at polling and counting centres, deploy reserve and standby vehicles, and submit verified details of Panchayat representatives after completion of the counting process.
Anupam Kashyap said Panchayati Raj elections would be conducted in a completely transparent manner and warned that negligence in election duty would not be tolerated.
SDM Theog Dr Shashank Gupta, DSP Siddharth Sharma and BDO Naresh Chand, among others, attended the meeting.
