Shimla, May 10:
A tragic incident has come to light from Sanjauli area of Shimla, where a Class 9 student, who was critically injured after a brick fell on him from an under-construction building, has died during treatment at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC).
According to reports, the incident occurred around 15 days ago when the child was passing near the construction site. Suddenly, a brick reportedly fell from the under-construction house and struck the student seriously on the head, leaving him critically injured.
The student had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at IGMC Shimla, where he remained on ventilator support and fought for his life for the past two weeks. Despite continuous treatment and efforts by doctors, the child succumbed to his injuries.
The incident has triggered grief and anger among local residents, who have raised concerns over safety measures at construction sites in residential areas. Police are investigating the matter and further action is expected after completion of the inquiry.
