Reckong Peo: Kinnaur Premier League Legends Cricket Championship witnessed a historic finish as Kinnaur Warriors emerged champions with an unbeaten run throughout the tournament.
In the final played on Saturday at Choltu Mini Stadium, Kinnaur Warriors defeated Thukpa Legends to clinch the title.
After winning the toss, Kinnaur Warriors opted to bat first and posted 143/8 in 15 overs, setting a target of 144 runs for Thukpa Legends. Chasing the total, Thukpa Legends were bowled out for 131 runs in 15 overs.
For Kinnaur Warriors, Viju Negi played a crucial knock of 46 runs off 28 balls. Vivek Negi Ishu contributed 24 runs off 13 deliveries, while SS Negi scored 18 off 12 balls. KK Negi added 15 runs from five balls and Dr Prem Negi chipped in with 13 runs off seven deliveries.
With the ball, SS Negi starred for the Warriors with four wickets. KK Negi claimed three wickets, while Sunny Negi took two and John Negi picked up one wicket.
For their outstanding performances in the tournament, Sunny Negi was adjudged Player of the Tournament, Dr Prem Negi received the Best Bowler award, while Sunil Negi of Thukpa Legends was named Best Batsman. SS Negi was declared Man of the Match for his match-winning all-round performance in the final.
The championship-winning Kinnaur Warriors squad included captain DC Negi, Mukesh Boris, Viju Negi, Dr Prem Negi, RP Negi, Gyan Kumar Negi, RP Yulam, Devraj Negi, John Negi, KK Negi, SS Negi, Chander Mohan Negi, Sunny Negi, Manoj Negi and Vivek Negi. The players are regarded among the finest cricketers of their era in the region.
