Sukhu government is exerting government pressure to influence the Speaker-Vice Speaker elections: Rakesh Jamwal
Shimla May 21, 2026
BJP State Chief Spokesperson and MLA Rakesh Jamwal said that the Congress government and the Chief Minister are completely rattled by the BJP’s sweeping success in the municipal council and town council elections in Himachal Pradesh. The victory of BJP-supported candidates in most municipal councils and town councils across the state makes it clear that the public’s trust lies with the BJP and that there is widespread dissatisfaction with the Congress government.
Rakesh Jamwal alleged that the Congress government is now preparing to adopt new tactics to influence the Speaker and Deputy Speaker elections. He said that the government seeks to influence the democratic process through administrative pressure, inducement, and political interference. This is an attempt to murder democracy, which the Bharatiya Janata Party will not allow to succeed under any circumstances.
He said that the Congress government should understand that the public’s elected representatives will not succumb to any pressure or temptation. BJP-supported candidates have won with majority victories in most of the state’s municipal councils and municipal councils, and in the future, the BJP is certain to become president and vice president of these local bodies. The Congress government is unable to digest its defeat and is therefore attempting to misuse the government machinery.
Jamwal said that the people of the state are watching everything, and in the coming times, the Congress will respond with even greater force. He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party will also win a landslide victory in the upcoming elections for Panchayati Raj institutions, district councils, panchayats, and block committees. The public is ready to give a befitting reply to the Congress’s anti-people policies and misuse of power.
He expressed confidence that BJP supported candidates will win in most of the Zila Parishads, Panchayat Samitis and Panchayats of the state and the support base of Bharatiya Janata Party will emerge stronger in Himachal Pradesh.
