Shimla, June 23
A Marking the 93rd birth anniversary of former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Raja Virbhadra Singh, Congress workers of Saraj Pargana from Tehsil Sunni organized a fruit and juice distribution drive at the Old Age Home in Basantpur on Tuesday. Raja Virbhadra Singh was born on June 23, 1934, and remains one of Himachal Pradesh’s most influential political leaders, having served six terms as Chief Minister.
The event was held as a tribute to the late Congress stalwart, fondly remembered as “Raja Sahib” for his contributions to the development of the state and his close connect with the people. Congress workers interacted with the elderly residents, distributed fruits and refreshments, and paid homage to the former Chief Minister’s enduring legacy.
Speakers on the occasion recalled Virbhadra Singh’s role in shaping modern Himachal Pradesh and said his commitment to public welfare continues to inspire party workers and citizens alike. The participants also highlighted the importance of serving the elderly and underprivileged as a meaningful way to commemorate the life and ideals of the veteran leader.
The programme witnessed the participation of local Congress leaders, party workers, and social activists from the Sunni region, who described the initiative as a small gesture of gratitude towards a leader whose contributions to the hill state remain unparalleled.
