Bilaspur: A man accused in a firing case was critically injured after being allegedly attacked with an axe on the Kiratpur-Manali four-lane near the Barari bridge in Himachal Pradesh’s Bilaspur district, police said on Wednesday.
According to police, the victim was attacked by unidentified assailants while he was on the four-lane. He sustained serious injuries in the assault and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where his condition was stated to be critical. The victim was later referred to a higher medical centre for specialised treatment.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the injured man is an accused in a previous firing case. Police suspect the attack could be linked to an old rivalry, though all possible angles are being investigated.
A case has been registered, and police teams have launched a search for the attackers. CCTV footage from the area and other technical evidence are being examined to identify those involved in the incident.
Officials said further details are expected as the investigation progresses.
