ABVP Conference Rekindles Memories, Inspiration and Organisational Values, Says Jai Ram
Shimla, June 7
Former Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur attended “Smriti-2026”, a senior workers’ conference organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla.
Addressing the gathering, Thakur described the event as more than just a conference, calling it an emotional opportunity to reconnect with memories, struggles, learnings and organisational values accumulated over the years.
He said his student life and personal development had been deeply influenced by the ideals and culture of ABVP, adding that the organisation had played a significant role in shaping his public life and leadership journey.
“ABVP has consistently promoted nation-building through individual development. The values of discipline, nationalism, organisational commitment and social responsibility imparted by the organisation distinguish it from many other student bodies,” Thakur said.
The Leader of Opposition noted that ABVP is regarded as one of the world’s largest student organisations and has contributed significantly to nurturing leadership and public service values among young people.
Recalling his interaction with former colleagues and senior workers, Thakur said meeting old associates after many years was an emotional and inspiring experience that brought renewed energy and motivation.
He said such conferences serve as an important platform to remember the organisation’s journey, preserve institutional memories and inspire the next generation of workers.
Congratulating the organisers for the successful conduct of the event, Thakur expressed confidence that ABVP would continue contributing to nation-building and youth development in the years ahead.
