Governor Kavinder Gupta today launched the ‘Tobacco-Free Himachal’ campaign of YouVAH (Youth for Voluntary Action in Himachal) at Lok Bhavan. The campaign will be carried out across all 12 districts of the state with the objective of creating awareness against tobacco consumption and promoting a healthy, addiction-free society.
A young delegation of YouVAH called on the Governor and briefed him in detail about the organization’s ongoing mission, ‘Youth for Rise-No to Drugs, Yes to Passion’, under which the ‘Tobacco-Free Himachal’ campaign is being actively conducted.
The team apprised the Governor about various awareness drives, outreach programmes and activities being organized throughout the state to encourage youth participation in building a tobacco-free and drug-free society. They informed that the organization has been consistently working at the grassroots level to sensitize young people, students and the general public about the harmful effects of tobacco and substance abuse.
The delegation also shared details of their community engagement programmes, educational campaigns and volunteer-driven initiatives aimed at inspiring the younger generation to adopt a healthy and responsible lifestyle.
The Governor lauded the initiative and said that awareness among youth is essential to effectively tackle the growing challenge of substance abuse in society. He said that the collective social efforts and active participation of young people are crucial for creating a healthier and more responsible future generation.
Kavinder Gupta encouraged the team to continue their dedicated work and assured them full support and guidance for the success of the campaign. He also stressed the importance of value-based education, positive thinking and constructive engagement of youth in social development activities.
