The Himachal Pradesh Government has issued a fresh notification revising the reimbursement procedure under the HIMCARE Scheme for government hospitals and medical and dental colleges.

According to the notification issued by the Department of Medical Education and Research, reimbursement claims will now be restricted to the actual expenditure incurred or the defined package rates under the HIMCARE Scheme, whichever is lower.
The government said that patients will continue to receive cashless treatment at government hospitals and medical and dental colleges, with all required medicines, items, consumables and surgical materials being provided for their treatment.
However, the notification clarified that medicines, consumables and surgical items already available in government supply or funded by the State Government or the National Health Mission (NHM) cannot be claimed separately by hospitals and medical or dental colleges under the Actual Expenditure Cost or defined package rates of the HIMCARE Scheme.
The revised order supersedes the department’s earlier notification dated August 8, 2026, and has come into immediate effect following the approval of the competent authority.
The notification was issued by Special Secretary (Health) Ashish Singhmar on August 27, 2026.
