Shimla, April 17: The Directorate of School Education, Himachal Pradesh, has issued a most urgent, time-bound directive to ensure the distribution of safe drinking water bottles to school students across the state, following an announcement by the Chief Minister.
According to the official communication, stainless steel water bottles will be provided to students from pre-primary to Class 12 in all government schools. The initiative aims to promote safe drinking water and reduce the use of plastic among students.
The distribution will be carried out through 143 Block Project Officers (BPOs) across Himachal Pradesh. Deputy Directors of School Education (Elementary and Secondary) have been instructed to compile and submit detailed data on the total number of students in their respective districts.
The required information includes details of Block Project Officers, their contact information, and the total number of enrolled students from pre-primary to Class 12, along with the number of bottles required.
Officials have been directed to submit the data to the Directorate by April 30, 2026, to ensure timely procurement and distribution of the bottles.
The Directorate emphasized that the information must be collected from all subordinate institutions promptly so that the initiative can be implemented efficiently and all eligible students receive the benefit without delay.
The move is part of the state government’s broader efforts to improve student health, hygiene, and environmental sustainability in schools.
