Shimla, August 18: Himachal Pradesh has once again emerged among the country’s top-performing states in the implementation of infrastructure projects under the Samagra Shiksha programme, recording zero overall pendency in works sanctioned between 2021-22 and 2025-26.
According to data from the Union Ministry of Education, all infrastructure works sanctioned for Himachal Pradesh during the five-year period have been completed, leaving no pending projects. The Centre has also appreciated the state’s performance in ensuring the timely execution of school infrastructure projects.
Along with Himachal Pradesh, Goa and the Union Territory of Puducherry have also recorded zero pendency. In comparison, infrastructure work pendency stands at 75.57 per cent in Kerala, 65.06 per cent in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu, and 59.21 per cent in Jammu and Kashmir.
Himachal’s performance extends across individual infrastructure components as well. Works related to additional classrooms, art and craft rooms, boundary walls, school buildings and computer rooms have recorded zero pendency. The state has also completed all sanctioned works related to repair and improvement of dilapidated buildings, drinking water facilities, electrification and laboratories.
Similarly, all sanctioned biology, chemistry, physics and science laboratory projects have been completed within the stipulated period. Library rooms, major repair works, opening of new schools, ramps and handrails, and installation of solar panels have also recorded zero pendency.
Basic student amenities have received similar attention, with all sanctioned works relating to boys’ and girls’ toilets and their repairs completed on time.
100% Smart Classrooms Functional
Himachal Pradesh has also registered a significant achievement in the area of digital education. All smart classrooms in the state are reported to be functional, compared with around 50 per cent in Kerala.
The combination of zero pendency in Samagra Shiksha infrastructure projects and 100 per cent functionality of smart classrooms reflects the state’s focus on timely implementation of education schemes and strengthening facilities at the school level.
Samagra Shiksha Director Rajesh Sharma said the zero pendency in sanctioned infrastructure works and 100 per cent functionality of smart classrooms was a matter of pride for Himachal Pradesh.
He attributed the achievement to the collective efforts of the Samagra Shiksha team, particularly Civil Coordinator Ranjana Chauhan and her team, along with other coordinators.
Sharma said the objective of Samagra Shiksha was not merely to complete projects within the stipulated time but also to ensure quality and improved facilities for students. The effective implementation of infrastructure projects, including smart classrooms, reflected the department’s commitment towards providing a better learning environment in government schools.
