Shimla, June 19
The ongoing HIMTREK 2026, being hosted by the Jaypee University of Information Technology (JUIT), continued to provide an enriching blend of adventure, leadership development, experiential learning and cultural exchange to National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets on June 15 and 16.
The activities began with an energetic Zumba warm-up and yoga session, with enthusiastic participation from all cadets. The fitness session helped improve physical well-being, boost morale and prepare participants for the day’s outdoor activities.

On June 15, Group A, comprising cadets from the Shimla Group of PHHP&C Directorate, Rajasthan Directorate and Uttarakhand Directorate, undertook the scenic Tara Devi Trek. The trek provided panoramic views of the Himalayan landscape while promoting endurance, teamwork and environmental awareness. Following the trek, cadets visited the Science Museum, where interactive exhibits and scientific displays offered valuable learning experiences.

Meanwhile, Group B, consisting of cadets from MP & CG Directorate, JK&L Directorate and Punjab & Haryana Group of PHHP&C Directorate, embarked on the Wakna Trek. The route featured a treasure hunt and several team-building activities designed to enhance leadership, cooperation and problem-solving skills. Cadets also enjoyed the tranquillity of the Himalayan environment and connected closely with nature.
The evening session featured an inspiring interaction by SUO Parineeta of 1 HP (G) Battalion Solan. Sharing her experiences of participating in the Republic Day Camp (RDC) and the Youth Exchange Programme (YEP) in Russia, she highlighted the preparation process, selection criteria, challenges and opportunities associated with these prestigious NCC programmes.
On June 16, the trekking groups exchanged destinations, allowing all participants to experience both the Tara Devi and Wakna trekking routes. The day concluded with the Inter-Directorate Group Song Competition, where cadets showcased their musical talent, creativity and cultural diversity, promoting camaraderie, self-confidence and national integration.
HIMTREK 2026, hosted at JUIT, continues to serve as a platform for holistic development by combining adventure, learning, leadership and cultural exchange, leaving cadets with lifelong memories and valuable experiences
