Shimla, June 14: Claiming that Union Health Minister and senior BJP leader Jagat Prakash Nadda’s two-day visit to Himachal Pradesh has injected fresh energy into party workers, BJP state president Rajeev Bindal on Saturday said the visit had not only strengthened the organisation but also exposed the shortcomings of the Congress government led by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu.
Addressing the media in Shimla, Bindal said the enthusiastic public response to Nadda across the state reflected growing faith in the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He alleged that the Congress government was increasingly losing public confidence, leading to visible discomfort among its leaders.
According to Bindal, Nadda highlighted the Centre’s financial assistance to Himachal Pradesh in sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, education, roads, railways, disaster management and welfare schemes. He claimed that despite receiving substantial financial support from the Central Government, the state government had failed to utilise resources effectively for public welfare.
The BJP leader also reiterated Nadda’s criticism of the state government as a “cut-money government”, alleging widespread corruption and commission-based practices in various departments. He questioned the utilisation of central funds and accused the Congress administration of halting development projects while failing to address the concerns of employees, pensioners, youth and other sections of society.
Bindal further said that the Congress government had not fulfilled the promises it made before the Assembly elections. He alleged that the government had failed to generate employment, attract investment, promote tourism and strengthen industrial growth, resulting in economic mismanagement and administrative inefficiency.
Referring to organisational meetings held during the visit, Bindal said Nadda appreciated the dedication and discipline of BJP workers. He also credited Prime Minister Modi’s welfare-oriented policies and the efforts of party workers for the BJP’s performance in Panchayati Raj Institutions and Municipal Corporation elections.
Describing the visit as more than a political programme, Bindal said it conveyed the BJP’s commitment to Himachal Pradesh’s development and organisational expansion. He claimed that the large public participation in events held across the state indicated growing support for the BJP and increasing dissatisfaction with the Congress government.
Responding to criticism from Congress leaders following the visit, Bindal said their reactions reflected discomfort over the issues and facts raised by Nadda. He alleged that the Congress lacked answers to the BJP’s allegations and was relying on political rhetoric instead.
The BJP, he added, would continue to raise issues concerning the people of Himachal Pradesh and highlight both the Centre’s support to the state and the shortcomings of the Congress government.
