Albendazole to be administered to 1.55 lakh infants, children and adolescents: DC Mukesh Repswal
Chamba, August 21: The National Deworming Day (NDD) programme will be organised across Chamba district on September 18, during which Albendazole will be administered to 1,55,087 infants, children and adolescents.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the District Task Force Committee chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repswal at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Chamba.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the action plan prepared by the Chief Medical Officer’s office for the successful implementation of the campaign and issued necessary directions to the concerned departments.
Repswal said such health programmes required effective coordination among all departments to ensure the achievement of targets. He directed officials to work in close coordination and ensure the successful implementation of the campaign across all health blocks of the district.
Representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions were asked to display Information, Education and Communication (IEC) material related to deworming and Vitamin-A supplementation at the panchayat level. They were also directed to ensure that parents are informed about the campaign in advance.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the District Programme Officer, Child Development, to ensure the active participation of Anganwadi workers, while the Education Department was asked to ensure the presence of students in schools on September 18.
Chief Medical Officer Dr JS Bhardwaj welcomed the Deputy Commissioner and shared important information regarding the campaign.
Medical Health Officer Dr Kavita Mahajan conducted the proceedings of the meeting.
Under the National Deworming Day programme, Albendazole will be administered to 1,55,087 infants, children and adolescents across all health blocks of Chamba district.
In addition, 39,534 infants and children between one and five years of age will be administered Vitamin-A supplements.
District Programme Officer, Child Development, Kamal Kishore Sharma, District Programme Officer, Health, Dr Harit Puri, and other concerned departmental officers were also present at the meeting.
The district administration has appealed to parents and all stakeholders to support the campaign to ensure maximum coverage and the successful implementation of the National Deworming Day programme.
