Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur, while targeting the Chief Minister, said that blaming BJP leaders and the Centre will not reduce his accountability; he will have to answer the public as to why development has been stalled in the last three and a half years.
He said, today the situation is such that the Chief Minister is even shying away from going among the public, which clearly shows that the government has lost its credibility.
Mandi: Former Chief Minister and Leader of the Opposition, Jai Ram Thakur, launched a scathing attack on the current Congress government, stating that the government’s failures and anti-people policies have fueled widespread anger among the people, and that the people are now fully prepared to respond through their votes. When Congress leaders and their ministers come to you, be sure to ask them when they plan to undertake development work. Why have the institutions opened on our demand been closed, and why are development works not being carried out? While presiding over the organizational meeting of the Saraj BJP Mandal held in Janjehli, Jai Ram Thakur questioned the government’s intentions, stating that the Congress government had made every effort to postpone the Panchayat Raj and local body elections under the pretext of the disaster, but only after the matter reached the Supreme Court did the election process begin.
He alleged that the government was running away from the elections because it had no achievements to show the public during its three and a half years in office, and that there was absolutely no progress on the ground in the name of development. The Leader of the Opposition said that development work in the state was being carried out solely through financial assistance from the Center and 191 central schemes, while the state government did not even have the funds to carry out the work from its own budget. Expressing concern over the stagnant pace of development, Jairam Thakur said that funds have been received under the VBG Ram Ji Yojana for development works in villages, but due to the lack of Panchayats, it is not being spent, resulting in the general public being deprived of the benefits of the schemes. Targeting the Chief Minister, he said that blaming BJP leaders and the central government will not diminish his accountability. He said that he must answer the public for why development has stalled in the last three and a half years, why disaster-affected people have not received adequate compensation, and why basic services like health and drinking water have not improved.
Jai Ram Thakur sarcastically said that today the situation is such that the Chief Minister is even hesitant to go among the public, which clearly shows that the government has lost its credibility. During the meeting, he discussed in detail the strengthening of the organization, empowerment at the booth level and the strategy for the upcoming elections and, seeing the enthusiasm and dedication of the workers, expressed confidence that the BJP will win the upcoming elections with a huge majority. On this occasion, Mandal officials, senior workers and many members of the BJP family were present, who resolved to fight unitedly against the government.
