Shimla, September 1: The newly appointed office-bearers of the District Congress Committee (DCC) Shimla Rural held their first organisational meeting at Rajiv Bhawan, the Himachal Pradesh Congress headquarters, on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by DCC Shimla Rural president Hari Krishan Himral.
The meeting focused on assigning responsibilities to office-bearers of various organisational wings and chalking out a strategy to strengthen the party at the grassroots level.
Among the key appointments, Vichar Prahari will focus on training and ideological programmes, while Sahkar Sarathi will work to strengthen the party’s connect with the cooperative sector. The Prachar Pramukh has been entrusted with communicating the state government’s achievements, policies and schemes to the public.
The spokespersons and media panelists have been assigned the responsibility of presenting the Congress’s position on media platforms and raising issues concerning the BJP-led government at the Centre.
The meeting also discussed strengthening the organisation through training programmes and taking the Congress ideology to the grassroots. A dedicated wing was also constituted to establish greater outreach among self-help groups, milk unions, cooperative societies and voluntary organisations in the district.
A major focus of the meeting was the party’s “Mission 2027” strategy. The office-bearers resolved to begin preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections with immediate effect, strengthen contact with grassroots workers and bridge the gap between the government, party leaders and workers to work towards a “Mission Repeat”.
Pawan Thakur, Pratap Chauhan, Pawan Himta, Mahendra Kumar, Rajiv Verma, Mohinder Verma, Vijay Mehta, Rameshwar, Lalit Sharma, Pawan Sharma, Anup Thakur, Nagru Ram, Surender Verma, Reena Kumari, Geeta Sharma, T.R. Sharma, Roshan Thakur, Dinesh Mehta and Ravi Mehta were among those present at the meeting. Participants also shared suggestions for strengthening the party organisation.
