U-21 District Volleyball Team Trials on June 5 at Sanjauli MC Ground
Shimla, May 29: In a first-of-its-kind initiative under the Anti-Chitta campaign, the district administration will organise the Anti-Chitta Under-21 Inter-District Volleyball Championship (Boys) during the Shimla Summer Festival 2026. Selection trials for the district-level team will be held on June 5 at 10 a.m. at MC Ground, Sanjauli.
Additional District Magistrate (Law & Order) Pankaj Sharma said aspiring players must bring their original proof of date of birth and Aadhaar card for the trials.
To ensure maximum participation and identify the best talent, selection trials are being conducted to form three district volleyball teams that will represent Shimla in the prestigious tournament. Only players born on or after January 1, 2006, will be eligible to participate.
Sharma said the championship is being organised as part of the Anti-Chitta campaign aimed at keeping youth away from drug abuse and raising awareness about the harmful effects of narcotics such as chitta.
The winning team will receive a cash prize of ₹1 lakh, while the runners-up and third-placed teams will be awarded ₹50,000 and ₹25,000, respectively, along with trophies and medals. In addition, the five quarterfinalist teams will receive ₹20,000 each.
Special awards carrying ₹5,000 each and mementoes will be presented to the tournament’s best attacker, blocker, setter and libero.
The organising committee will provide participating players with travel allowance, daily allowance and accommodation during the championship.
