Arki MLA inaugurates newly constructed building of Jogindra Central Cooperative Bank at Bharari Ghat
Arki: Strong and accessible banking services are essential for strengthening the rural economy, Arki MLA Sanjay Awasthi said while stressing the need to expand financial services at the grassroots level.
Awasthi was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed building of the Jogindra Central Cooperative Bank at Bharari Ghat in Daseran gram panchayat of the Arki Assembly constituency.
He said strengthening banking facilities in rural areas was the need of the hour. Along with improving basic infrastructure such as roads, drinking water and electricity, the government was also working to ensure greater access to financial services in rural areas, he said.
“Cooperative banks are the backbone of the rural economy,” Awasthi said, adding that they provide farmers, horticulturists and rural residents with a range of financial and banking services. Such facilities help boost economic activity at the local level and provide people with financial support to become self-reliant.
Awasthi said the state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, was committed to taking development schemes and public services to every village.
He urged the bank management to increase awareness among rural residents about various bank schemes, loan facilities and digital banking services so that eligible beneficiaries could make maximum use of them.
The MLA also heard grievances of local residents and directed officials of the concerned departments to ensure their resolution on priority.
Jogindra Central Cooperative Bank chairman Mukesh Sharma said the bank was continuously working to provide better banking facilities to people in rural areas. He said the bank aimed to ensure that every eligible person in the region had access to banking services and urged residents to make maximum use of its schemes and facilities.
Among those present were bank director Roshan Verma, Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies Girish Nadda, Daseran gram panchayat pradhan Tara Thakur, Kyarda gram panchayat pradhan Meera Thakur, Daseran gram panchayat vice-pradhan Kuldeep Sharma, representatives of transport cooperative societies, local Congress leaders, senior officials of the Jal Shakti and Electricity departments, Naib Tehsildar Darlaghat Premlal, and other officials and local residents.
