Demonstrators stage protest outside Sanjauli Police Station; administration urges peace amid heightened security
Shimla, June 8: Tension prevailed in Shimla’s Sanjauli area as supporters of the Hindu Sangharsh Samiti staged a protest demanding the release of leaders and activists detained by police in connection with a recent incident linked to allegations of harassment involving a minor girl.
According to reports, several Hindu Sangharsh Samiti leaders were taken into custody following a confrontation involving individuals suspected of harassing a minor. The detentions triggered protests in Sanjauli, where supporters gathered outside the police station and raised slogans against the state government and police action.
Protesters alleged that action was being taken against those who intervened in support of the victim, while demanding the immediate release of the detained activists. Demonstrators also accused the administration of acting unfairly and called for strict action against the accused in the original case.
The protest drew participation from local residents and members of various organizations. Security was tightened in and around the Sanjauli area to prevent any untoward incident, while police officials appealed for calm and urged people not to spread rumours or inflammatory content on social media.
The issue has once again brought Sanjauli into the spotlight, with local organizations warning of further agitation if their demands are not addressed. Meanwhile, the district administration is closely monitoring the situation to maintain law and order.
