On the first day of the International Shimla Summer Festival – 2026, a Hindi Kavi Sammelan was organised at the Gaiety Theatre in which about 50 renowned poets of the state registered their presence and created a literary atmosphere.
Presiding over the event, Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) Jyoti Rana welcomed the poets from across the state in a traditional manner. She noted that this year, for the first time, a poetry conference is being held at the International Shimla Summer Festival, from June 8th to 10th, a matter of pride for the state’s literary figures. She wished all the poets present a successful event and urged them to continue promoting the state’s literature in this manner.
The Kavi Sammelan, being held from June 8th to 10th, includes Hindi and Pahari Kavi Sammelans and Mushairas, and a Hindi Kavi Sammelan was held today. The program was moderated by S.R. Harnot and the stage was managed by Dr. Satyanarayan Snehi.
The first session of the Hindi Kavi Sammelan began at 10 am, with Dr. Om Prakash Saraswat, Dr. Rekha Vashisht, and Professor Meenakshi F. Paul as chairmen. The second session of the Hindi Kavi Sammelan was held at 2 pm, with K.R. Bharti, Dr. Bhawani Singh, Atma Ranjan, and Dr. Dinesh Kanwar as chairmen. The second session was moderated by Dr. Dinesh Sharma.
Apart from this, various poets of the state lectured on their works and provided detailed information about the achievements of the literary world.
