Mall Road to remain vehicle-free, multiple checkpoints set up as thousands of devotees expected during the three-day fair.
Solan, June 25:
Ahead of the commencement of the State-Level Maa Shoolini Fair 2026, the Solan district administration has issued a comprehensive traffic management plan to ensure smooth movement of devotees and maintain public safety during the three-day celebrations from June 26 to June 28.
According to an order issued by Additional District Magistrate-cum-Mela Officer Rahul Jain, special traffic arrangements have been put in place in view of the grand Shobha Yatra of Maa Shoolini and the anticipated surge in visitors to Solan town.
As per the notification, Mall Road in Solan will remain closed to all vehicles, except emergency services, from 8:00 AM on June 26 until June 28. Similarly, the stretch from Old DC Office Chowk to Zonal Hospital Chowk will remain restricted for general traffic, with access allowed only to VIPs, invited artists and emergency vehicles.
To strengthen security and regulate traffic flow, checkpoints will be established near Saproon Chowk and Hotel The Cliff, where vehicles will be screened and diverted. Visitors arriving from Chambaghat and nearby areas will be required to park their vehicles on designated bypass routes.
The administration has also announced alternative routes for vehicles travelling between Shimla and Chandigarh, while traffic coming from Sirmaur towards Solan will be diverted through the Shamti bypass. Heavy and light vehicles from Rajgarh will also be rerouted to minimise congestion within the town.
Authorities have prohibited roadside parking between Zonal Hospital Chowk and Shamti and have arranged boarding and deboarding facilities for approved vehicles at the MC Parking area. Entry towards Thodo Ground will be regulated based on crowd levels to ensure public safety.
Emergency services, including ambulances, fire brigade vehicles, police units, municipal sanitation vehicles and official mela duty vehicles, have been exempted from the restrictions. The administration has appealed to residents and visitors to cooperate with authorities and follow traffic advisories to ensure the successful conduct of the festival.
