Shimla, June 13: A shocking murder incident was reported on Saturday evening in the Housing Board Colony area of Sanjauli in Shimla, where a young woman was shot dead by unidentified assailants inside the premises of a private school.
The deceased has been identified as Manisha Mittal. According to preliminary information, the incident occurred at around 7:30 pm near the school’s main gate when the attackers allegedly opened fire on her.
Police sources said the victim sustained three bullet injuries and died on the spot before any medical assistance could be provided.
Initial investigations revealed that shortly before the attack, Manisha had returned from a nearby shop after purchasing Maggi noodles and other household items. As she approached the school premises, the assailants, who were reportedly travelling in a Punjab-registered vehicle, allegedly fired multiple rounds at her and fled the scene.
Investigators are examining several angles, including a possible property dispute. Sources indicated that the victim was reportedly involved in an ongoing property-related conflict with her brother. However, police have not officially confirmed the motive behind the killing and said all aspects of the case are being thoroughly investigated.
Following the incident, police and forensic teams rushed to the spot and began collecting evidence. A city-wide alert and checkpoints have been set up across Shimla to trace the suspects and the vehicle used in the crime.
Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to identify the attackers and reconstruct the sequence of events.
Police officials said a detailed investigation is underway and expressed confidence that the case will be cracked soon.
