Car collides with trucks and scrap-laden vehicle near Alsu Four-Lane Chowk
Sundernagar, August 16: A 26-year-old man was killed and four others injured in a late-night road accident near Murari Dhaba at Alsu Four-Lane Chowk in Sundernagar. The accident occurred at around 12.30 am on August 16.
According to police, a white-coloured car travelling at high speed first hit a truck parked on the roadside and then crashed into another truck ahead. Following the impact, the rear portion of the car swung towards the road and collided with a scrap-laden vehicle.
The five occupants of the car were trapped inside following the collision and were rescued with considerable effort by locals. They were taken by ambulance to the Community Health Centre at Dehar.
The injured were identified as Vivek, Sachin, Parveen, Piyush and Akash, all reportedly residents of Haryana. During treatment, doctors declared 26-year-old Akash, son of Lokram, dead. The other four injured were given initial treatment and referred to AIIMS Bilaspur for further care.
Police said the car also had a Haryana registration. The collision damaged the rear tyre, suspension and leaf springs of a truck parked outside the road.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accident was caused by rash and negligent driving at high speed. Police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and initiated further investigation.
DSP Sundernagar Bharat Bhushan confirmed that a case had been registered and the investigation was underway.
