Shimla, August 1: The Guru Ravidas Samrasta Sankalp Kalash Yatra, launched to commemorate the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Shiromani Guru Ravidas, will enter Himachal Pradesh through Santokhgarh in Una district on August 2, BJP Rajya Sabha MP and state convenor of the campaign Dr Sikander Kumar announced on Saturday.
Addressing a press conference, Dr Kumar said the nationwide Samrasta Sankalp Abhiyan, which began on July 29 (Guru Purnima), will continue until February 20, 2027, coinciding with the birth anniversary celebrations of Guru Ravidas. The campaign aims to spread the saint’s message of social harmony, equality, service, brotherhood and social justice across the country.
The Kalash Yatra commenced from Seer Govardhanpur, Varanasi, the birthplace of Guru Ravidas, and will receive a grand welcome at the Guru Ravidas Temple in Santokhgarh upon entering Himachal Pradesh.
According to Dr Kumar, the reception ceremony will be attended by former Union Minister and Hamirpur MP Anurag Singh Thakur, MLAs Satpal Singh Satti, Balbir Singh Bagga, Sumit Sharma, along with BJP leaders, local temple committees and members of various social organisations.
Nine-Day Journey Across Himachal
The yatra will travel nearly 800 kilometres over nine days, covering all 11 organisational districts of the BJP in Himachal Pradesh before concluding on August 9 at the Guru Ravidas Temple in Kangu, Hamirpur, where a Kalash installation ceremony and special programme will be held.

- August 9: Concluding programme at Kangu Temple, Hamirpur
Dr Kumar said the initiative is not merely a religious event but a movement to strengthen social harmony, national unity and India’s cultural values. He said the campaign seeks to take Guru Ravidas’s teachings, including his message of equality and the famous saying, “Man Changa To Kathauti Mein Ganga,” to every section of society.
He appealed to people across Himachal Pradesh to participate in large numbers and contribute to the campaign for social harmony and nation-building.
