Shimla, August 1
A heavy rainfall in Shimla has damaged the Hollyoak electricity substation in Sanjauli, while a retaining wall collapse temporarily blocked a nearby road, disrupting traffic in the area.
Local councillor Sheenam Kataria said the road was obstructed after debris from the collapsed retaining wall spilled onto the carriageway. The affected stretch remained closed for some time before the concerned department cleared the debris and restored vehicular movement.
Authorities are currently assessing the extent of damage to the Hollyoak power substation caused by the incessant rain. No injuries have been reported.
The incident comes amid continued heavy rainfall across Shimla district, which has triggered landslides, infrastructure damage and traffic disruptions at several locations. Officials have urged residents to remain cautious and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of intense rain.
