Solan, August 1: The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), in collaboration with the Himachal Pradesh Department of Industries, organised a one-day awareness and capacity-building workshop for MSMEs, self-help groups (SHGs), aspiring entrepreneurs and graduate students under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) programme.
The workshop was chaired by Vinay Verma, Manager, District Industries Centre (DIC), Solan, who said the initiative aimed to equip entrepreneurs and young professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to leverage digital platforms, government procurement systems, self-employment schemes and modern business strategies.
He said effective use of digital platforms and government procurement mechanisms would strengthen the MSME ecosystem, create employment opportunities and contribute to the state’s economic growth. Verma also stressed the need to organise such awareness programmes on a regular basis.
During the technical sessions, Abhilakash Lau and Sanjay Sharma from the Industries Department conducted detailed training on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) and the Central Public Procurement Portal (CPPP). Participants were briefed on vendor registration, the tendering process, government e-procurement procedures and ways to expand businesses through digital platforms.
Policy expert Sarvesh Sharma facilitated the successful registration of four new vendors on the GeM portal during the workshop, providing hands-on technical guidance to participants.
Rishabh Shyam of Shoolini University delivered a session on entrepreneurship, innovation, digital marketing, e-commerce and business expansion strategies. He encouraged participants to use digital technologies, social media and online marketing to reach wider markets and remain competitive in an evolving business landscape.
The interactive workshop also provided participants with an opportunity to engage with experts and seek clarifications on government schemes, digital marketing, e-procurement and business development.
Around 70 participants, including representatives of MSME units, self-help groups, aspiring entrepreneurs, graduate students and officials of the District Industries Centre, attended the programme.
