Three Schools Among India’s Top 100 State-Level Winners, 20 More Secure District-Level Honours

A Students from Himachal Pradesh have once again showcased their innovation, creativity, and scientific thinking on a national platform. In the Viksit Bharat Buildathon (VBB) 2025, three schools from the state have secured places among the Top 100 State-Level Winners in the country, while 20 other schools have been recognized as district-level winners, bringing pride to Himachal Pradesh.
Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Education Minister Rohit Thakur, and Samagra Shiksha Director Rajesh Sharma congratulated the winning schools, students, and teachers for their remarkable achievement. They stated that the success reflects the state’s growing emphasis on innovation, scientific temperament, and problem-solving-based education.
The Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, organized by the Department of School Education and Literacy under the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, and AICTE, is one of India’s largest innovation and hackathon initiatives. The campaign, themed “Call for a Self-Reliant India, Building a Developed India,” was launched on September 23, 2025, by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The competition was held under two categories—Idea and Prototype—allowing students to develop solutions for real-life challenges. Projects were evaluated based on innovation, practical utility, social impact, scalability, and alignment with national priorities.
More than 3 lakh schools and 5 crore students participated nationwide, submitting over 2.87 lakh projects. After a rigorous multi-level evaluation process at district, state, and national levels, the best projects were selected.
Three Himachal Schools Gain National Recognition
Among the state-level winners:
- PM SHRI GMGSSS Chamba (Chamba district) – Prototype Category
- GSSS Dharampur (Solan district) – Prototype Category
- Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Theog (Shimla district) – Idea Category
These three schools will collectively receive ₹60,000 in prize money.
20 Schools Feature Among India’s Top 1,000 District-Level Winners
Twenty schools from Himachal Pradesh secured positions among the Top 1,000 district-level winners nationwide. These include schools from Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Kangra, Chamba, Bilaspur, Mandi, Hamirpur, Kullu, Una, Kinnaur, and Lahaul-Spiti districts.
Among them, 12 schools were selected in the Prototype category and 8 schools in the Idea category. The district-level winners will receive a total prize amount of ₹1.52 lakh.
Innovation Culture Strengthening in Himachal
Samagra Shiksha Director Rajesh Sharma said the achievement reflects the success of ongoing efforts to promote innovation, scientific thinking, and problem-solving skills among students. He added that the students have brought laurels to Himachal Pradesh through their creativity and talent, and their success will inspire many others to pursue innovative solutions and scientific learning.
