26 Field Trainers Given Detailed Guidance on Technical and Practical Aspects
Shimla: The second phase of the three-day training programme for Census-2027 began at Bachat Bhawan in Shimla under the chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate (Protocol) and District Census Officer Jyoti Rana.
A total of 26 field trainers appointed in the district are being provided detailed training and necessary guidelines on the technical and practical aspects of the upcoming census exercise. The training programme, which commenced on May 11, will continue till May 13 and is being conducted by master trainers Anil Kumar and Ramesh Kumar.
District Nodal Officer Ramesh Kumar, along with other officials and employees, was also present during the session.
Addressing the participants, Jyoti Rana said the Census-2027 exercise is being conducted through digital mode for the first time. She informed that a self-enumeration system is also being introduced for the first time, allowing citizens to submit their information independently through the HLO mobile application and the official web portal between June 1 and June 15, 2026.
She further stated that house listing and house counting activities will be carried out from June 16 to July 15, 2026.
The District Census Officer emphasised that the officials involved in the exercise are not merely information collectors, but contributors to strengthening the foundation of the country’s development and policy planning.
Jyoti Rana said such training programmes are essential for ensuring the smooth and effective conduct of the census. She assured that all census-related information would remain completely confidential and appealed to residents to provide accurate and complete details to census officials.
She also urged the officers and employees associated with the exercise to perform their responsibilities with dedication, honesty and commitment, stating that the census would play a key role in future policy formulation and development planning.
