Shimla
The suspected suicide case of Municipal Corporation Shimla Deputy Controller Rameshwar Sharma has taken a serious turn after references to “service depression” reportedly surfaced in the suicide note recovered during the investigation.
According to police sources, the note allegedly points towards mental stress and pressure related to official duties. However, investigators said all aspects of the case are still being examined and no final conclusion has been drawn so far.
Rameshwar Sharma was found hanging at his residence on Friday after returning home from office on half-day leave. Family members rushed him to IGMC Shimla, where doctors declared him dead.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the Municipal Corporation, with colleagues describing Sharma as a sincere, calm and dedicated officer. Police have initiated proceedings under relevant sections of BNSS and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
The case has once again raised concerns over workplace stress and mental health issues among government employees.
